If you were wondering how big Landon has gotten since his newborn shoot last December, just read that title again! This little charmer is growing fast–and with that smile of his, is sure to be breaking hearts before too long!

Landon is so easy to work with–barely a year old and already mugging for the camera! He had a great time–playing with balloons, balls, watching some Eagles football, and then diving hands-first (and eventually crawling through) his birthday cake!

It's been an absolute pleasure to capture his first year, and we hope that each passing year is just as exciting for him as this one was!

Unwrapped Early

Christmas is a time for treating loved ones with presents, which is exactly what Ms. E was looking to do for her boyfriend. She just decided it might be best if this present started out a little more unwrapped than most!

We had a great afternoon shooting with her, and she relaxed much more quickly than I was expecting, based on our conversations beforehand. I have to give some credit for the confidence boost to the very talented Ashley Mirtaghavi, who did a beautiful job with her makeup.

Ms. E looked great, and I hope her boyfriend is as pleased with his present as we were with the shots we got. (And for those of you who DO know her... keep it on the DL and don't go broadcasting it on Facebook! It's a surprise, after all!)

It's hard to believe that Rosemary's almost a year old already. Today she was a very happy little girl, which was a vast departure from the first time we met, when she spent most of the time just screaming like an adorable, tiny, pink banshee.

She had an absolute blast at Long's Park--playing in the leaves and showing a surprising aptitude at climbing the sliding board! With an iron grip on the sides and an astounding perseverance, I've no doubt that had we given her the time, she'd have made it the whole way up the slide!

Thanks for the great afternoon, Rosemary! We can't wait to see you again!

Growing Like Weeds

One of the great joys of being a photographer is getting to know
people, making new friends, and capturing great images along the way.
As most people who follow our work know, we've been shooting with
Melissa, Glenn and the kids for quite a while, but it's always a fun
time. Heck, even Ayden seemed happy to see us-- I think he's growing
up! Eep! How'd that happen already?

It's incredible to see how these two have taken to their little sister, and
what great big brothers they are to her. Speaking of Teagan, we were
astonished how much she's grown and changed since the last time we saw
her! It's astounding!

All too soon, we found ourselves saying goodbye, but we look forward
to seeing them all again soon!

Ah, Joe and Amy... This was a special one for us. Amy's been a friend of mine for longer than I've even known Kylene, which makes me feel really old, all of a sudden. Amy was a mainstay in our group of friends from our younger (drunker?) days, so when she asked us to be a part of her big day with Joe, it was a Big Deal, (capital letters big!) and we couldn't have been happier to be there.

To me, Joe started out as "Greg's little brother," and it wasn't until a few years later that I really got to know him and see what a great guy he was. Warm and funny, always there for his friends, it was especially exciting when Joe and Amy finally started dating, and I knew she'd found the perfect guy who would always take care of her and treat her right.

We started the day at Masonic Village in Elizabethtown, which is so filled with character, and were delighted to have an unseasonably warm, sunny day. The trees were in the perfect stage of changing their colors, and the wedding couldn't have gone more smoothly. (See Joe? I told you that you didn't need to worry about the time so much!)

The reception was boisterous and beautiful, with DJ Tommy getting the party moving and keeping folks on the dance floor all night long! We wish Amy and Joe all the best, though knowing how much love they share, I'm sure they don't need any additional luck!

Ella's View From The Top

It was an exciting Sunday in Bellefonte–not only did we get to spend time shooting with Heidi, Greg and Emma, but they introduced us to their friends Johnny, Nicole and Ella as well! With such a beautiful day, it was perfect for little Ella to wander and play and for them all to enjoy the park.

From ducks to trains to a perch atop Daddy's shoulders, Ella scoured the park for exciting new places to play. Laughing and exploring, we had a great time getting to know this awesome family.

Fall-ing with Heidi, Greg & Emma

Well, the clocks have made their annual journey an hour into the past, (I keep trying "no backsies" in the spring, but time doesn't seem to listen.) so fall is officially here. Unlike Kylene, I actually LIKE fall. I love the smell of the fallen leaves, and the still-not-too-cold, but crisp air. Despite the fading summer climate, Ky and I both agree that we love that fall means it's time to meet up with Heidi, Greg and Emma.

We have a long history with Heidi and Greg, going all the way back to 2007, when we were just budding photographers, and they were just newlyweds, looking to make a mess of Heidi's wedding dress, and it's been wonderful to count them not just among our favorite clients, but among our friends, as well.

Returning to Talleyrand Park in Bellefonte was awesome, as it has a ton of great photo opportunities for such a relatively small area. We barely scratched the surface last year, but made up the shortfall this year, discovering all sorts of great settings.

It's astounding to see Emma growing up so fast. It seems like just yesterday that she was the tiny little thing getting tossed into the air in front of the Old Main building at Penn State!

Now, I know some of you are probably saying, "That's enough, Matt. You're starting to ramble. Just show us the pictures already!"

To those people, I simply say:

Lotsa Krotzah 2: Electric Boogaloo!

Many of our bridal couples feel like part of our family by the end of their wedding, but for Nathan and Bethany, they actually were part of the family!

It was such a joy to be able to capture all the wonderful memories of this special day–a day that was twelve years in the making! Nathan and Bethany weren't just high school sweethearts–they were middle school sweethearts! Who would've guessed that they could have found their perfect match in sixth grade? Certainly not me–but it's hard to think that these two are anything but perfectly matched.

From the front steps of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in York, to the luxurious ballrooms of the Marriott Lancaster Hotel, the setting for the day was exquisite. We wish Nathan and Bethany all the best, much love, and for Bethany especially–much patience. (She's married to a Krotzer. She'll need it!)

Magic Moments

Last weekend, we loaded up the trunk and pointed the car towards Harrisburg for Denise and Aaron's wedding. After dropping Kylene with the lovely Denise, who looked radiant even BEFORE getting into hair and makeup, I headed over to New Cumberland to meet up with Aaron and his guys. As we woke several groomsmen from the previous night's festivities, it quickly became apparent what a great couple we were dealing with. While Aaron went to get ready, the groomsmen regaled me with tales of "Mush" and what an awesome friend he was, as well as a few more embarrassing tales that won't see the light of day here on the blog. From the hotel room to the bus and on to the church, it wasn't hard to see the friendship and love (and beer!) shared among the wedding party.By the end of the night, we truly understood what a magical event we were lucky enough to share in. From the pre-dinner toasts to enthusiastic sing-alongs to dancing, the magical moments just kept coming, and we could barely keep our cameras up from laughing as "DJ A-Ron" treated us to his scratchtastic stylings. We wish Denise and Aaron all the best, and hope that their lives are filled with the same love and joy that surrounded them on this special October night.

Todo mi corazón para toda mi vida

We got an early start on Melanie and Michael's big day, greeting the sun with Melanie, her sister and mother, and the wonderful ladies at Jannat Beauty Design. While it seemed impossible to make our bride glow even more than she was, Jannat and her staff did a great job of adding polish and shine, and in what seemed like no time at all, the driver arrived to whisk Melanie off to the ceremony.

The church was beautiful, full of light and love, making it a joy to shoot Melanie and Michael as they made their vows and joined their lives. We always love churches with good light, and San Juan Bautista is incredible. It made for a perfect setting for these two as they were united, surrounded by their friends and family. The reception was a treat, taking place at the always-lovely and elegant Casa di Fiori at the Inn at Leola Village, where guests dined, danced and celebrated the joy and love that Melanie and Michael have for each other.

There's nobody named "Irene" on the guest list...

...but that doesn't mean she didn't make her presence known!

As the rest of the Eastern Seaboard was boarding up windows and preparing for the worst, Brad and Danielle were making a go of things out in the midst of it all–a fitting analogy for these two, who found in each other, a partner perfectly made for them, someone with whom they could weather any storm.

Just to prove it, they decided to have a wedding during a hurricane!

Okay, admittedly, we only got some fringe storms, and it wasn't that bad, weather-wise... but it's more dramatic if we make it sound like it was, don't you think? So there we were, in position, cameras at the ready as Danielle (and her son, who gave her away as best a 2-year old can!) made her way down the aisle, when with a rumble of thunder, the skies opened up, dousing the ceremony in a refreshing downpour. (Fine, there was no rumble of thunder... but the rest of it happened just like that, I swear!) With a delightfully intimate gathering, it was awesome to see guests leaping up to share umbrellas, dart for the cover of nearby trees, or in a wonderful display of thoughtfulness, rush to the front to provide cover for the bride and groom as the ceremony proceeded unhindered.

Ky and I huddled under our umbrella, taking turns holding it while the other clicked away, and within a few short minutes, the rain ceased. A few more short minutes beyond that, and Danielle got a new last name, Brad got a new stepson, and we all (myself included) got a few tears in our eyes.

It was a truly memorable day, one we were proud to share in, with a new family we couldn't be happier for!

When Irish Eyes Are Smiling

You may remember Melissa, Glenn, Bailey and Ayden from our many shoots last year, so it was a wonderful time to meet the newest member of the family, Teagan! She was so very tiny, but it was easy to see how perfectly she completes the group-and I'm sure Melissa will be relieved to have another girl around the house!

It was fun to watch Bailey and Ayden with her. Ayden's smile when he held his baby sister in his lap was priceless! She's going to have two wonderful big brothers as she grows up! I can't wait to see what sort of mischief the three of them get into in the coming years!

Time Flies!

It's hard to believe that Jacob's a year old already. He's grown up so much, and is turning into quite a character! (And quite a little ladies man at the playground, but we didn't get model releases from their parents, so we can't prove it here!)

I know I usually say a lot about the babies in these shoots, but it's been really fun seeing Ashlee and Joel growing into awesome parents, as well. We've known them a few years now, and it's really exciting to see how they've gone from this great, sweet couple to be loving, attentive caretakers of this new family.

It's been a great first year, and we can't wait to see Jacob, Ashlee and Joel in the years to come!

Once upon a time, in a castle far, far away...

Okay, so Reading's not THAT far away, but we couldn't have been happier to shoot Mary Jo and Matt's wedding at Stokesay Castle, which was the perfect setting for a wonderful outdoor wedding.

It was a full day, which began with Kylene joining the girls as they prepared, while Matt met with the guys, who wasted no time in sharing embarassing stories about the groom. (Don't worry, Matt... I won't repeat them here!) We explored Stokesay thoroughly, even snagging some shots atop the parapets with the wedding party. Thanks very much to the friendly and accomodating castle staff, and even bigger thanks to Mary Jo and Matt, for having such an unforgettable wedding! It was a pleasure to be a part of it!

Look, Down On The Ground! It's Super-Baby!

Sent here from an adorable planet far, far away, Lan-don has come here with amazing powers of cuteness that astound and bewilder simple Earthlings. Able to drink large quantities of milk in mere minutes, and soil a diaper before you can blink, able to... aww, heck... just look at him! He's even got a super-dog sidekick!

It seems like such a short time since our first shoot with Landon, and its amazing how big he's getting. We took the opportunity to get him outside to enjoy some of the warm weather, and just watch him take in the world. It's such a special thing to see, and it was wonderful to share it with Landon and his family. We look forward to seeing how much more he's grown by the next time we meet!

Beautiful Views

It's finally here! It seems like we've been anxiously awaiting Breanna and Dave's wedding for so long – maybe it's because we always have so much fun shooting them! Despite some rainy interludes throughout the afternoon, we really had such a beautiful day with them. Even dark skies early on couldn't dampen the festivities!

We started the day at Breanna's parents' home, where she got some last-minute luck from Buster before heading to St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church in Selinsgrove. A string quartet set the perfect mood for the nuptials, which featured some lovely singing by the bride.

From there, we took a short trip to Susquehanna Valley Country Club, where the rain fled, leaving behind a lush, picturesque backdrop to this special day. We had a wonderful evening of cake, dancing and love that filled the room for this pair. Congratulations to you both!

A Whole New World... At Long's Park!

Summer is just about here, and spring has brought with it new growth. Especially for Rosemary, who is already six months old! It seems like we were only just doing her newborn photos a short while ago. We couldn't believe how much she's grown, and how cute she's getting. Those big blue eyes are just too adorable!

It was so much fun to take her out to Long's Park with her parents and watch her experience it for the first time. She was fascinated by everything! (And yes, it can be a little scary at first!)

A Rare Yankees/Cardinals Matchup

There are days when a wedding truly surprises you and makes you happy to have been a part of it. Michael and Stephanie's wedding was one of those days. In our meetings, Michael always seemed a bit quiet and reserved, but enthusiastic. It was so great to see him on his wedding day – warm, gregarious and so obviously head over heels for Stephanie, surrounded by his equally warm family and friends. By the end of the night, we were a bit sad to say goodbye to everyone!

The wedding was a beauty - St. Mary's in Downtown Lancaster is a stunning church, and the trolley ride for the wedding party added such a unique touch of class and whimsy to an already joyous occasion. We finished the night at Foxchase Golf Club, with a spirited dance floor full of loved ones.

We say this a lot, but thank you to Michael and Stephanie for letting us be a part of your day – we had a blast!

New Look; Same Great Taste!

After much deliberation, we've finally completed the changeover to our new logo and new company identity. It's been a great 4 1/2 years for Kylene Krotzer Photography, but we've decided that it's time to officially recognize that we're a family business, and move ahead as Krotzer Photography.

Over the next few weeks, we expect to have our website updated and overhauled to reflect the new name, but in the meantime, here's a look at our new logo (and new blog banner above!)

The Sky's The Limit!

We were really looking forward to working with Brad and Danielle. They have such a great story behind their proposal, and we were looking forward to reliving it with them. Brad is a pilot, and asked Danielle to marry him mid-flight. High above the ground, able to see the world and their future before them, she said yes.

Thanks to Brad, we were able to gain access to Lancaster Airport, which provided some awesome surroundings to capture this top-flight couple. It was an absolute joy to work with them and to get the opportunity to capture some images in a unique setting. Thank you both for letting us share the day with you!

Something New!

We wanted to try something new with Mary Jo and Matt, so we took the opportunity to explore some fresh territory, heading up to Shank's Park in Derry Township. Its a lovely little park, with plenty of interesting places to shoot, laugh, and swim, if you happen to be their dog, Turk.

It was a great afternoon with this wonderful couple, who were so happy together and easy to work with!

This wedding was a treat. We've known Janis and Scott for a few years, so it was especially nice to be a part of their special day. The two of them were so affectionate, and it made it a true joy to take their pictures.

The ceremony was absolutely gorgeous at Cameron Estate Inn, and while we were chasing away clouds by the end, we couldn't have asked for a lovelier day.

Allison and Eric were our first wedding of the year, and we couldn't have asked for a better couple to start things off. From one of the most beautiful churches we've visited to the Playhouse in the Park, they hand-delivered some great photo opportunities, and we couldn't be more appreciative!

With guests from as far away as Finland and Alaska, they were truly a wonderful pair worth traveling the world for! Congratulations to you both, and we couldn't be happier for you!

Bini Baby

We've known Norma and Jon for as long as there's been a Norma and Jon, so we were really excited when they asked us to shoot some pictures with Jamie, their awesome little man. We trekked through downtown Lancaster, exploring the area near the square, giving Jamie his first taste of city life from atop the safety of his daddy's shoulders.

He was such a blast to shoot, and behaved so well for us, even with a biting early-spring chill still in the air. He was an absolute character, giving us some great expressions throughout the day.

We weren't sure where he learned this expression...

...but then we figured it out!

Thanks again to Norma and Jon – we had such a great time with you guys. Hopefully we can do it again soon!

Little Landon's Growing Fast

Lunch is the new black

It's been six months since we met with Ashlee, Joel and baby Jacob, and there's been so many changes! They recently moved back to the area from Baltimore, so we were excited for the opportunity to meet with them again. Jacob has grown so much, and he's quite a handsome little man!

Ashlee's done a great job of keeping him used to cameras, so he didn't even flinch when we showed up. (Though he's always been pretty cooperative!) We couldn't get enough of his smiles and funny faces – they made even a chilly January afternoon so much more bearable!

Some of our more avid blogstalkers (we know you're out there) may recall this shot of Ashlee and Joel from way back in 2007. We figured now would be a good time to revisit the cannons, as they blast off into parenthood with Jacob.

Three parts water, one part sugar

Landon arrived just a week before Christmas, no doubt eclipsing any of the other presents under his parents' tree this year! He was so much fun to shoot, and we learned a great new trick for baby shoots from his parents–a true "miracle drug" that stops crying fits like a dream!

With this new secret, we were able to capture some adorable moments with the little guy. We had a great time with him, and look forward to shooting him more in the coming year! (We've got 3 more shoots coming–stay tuned!)

The One Where Ayden Finally Offs Bailey

We met again with the Kerns for their fourth shoot of the year, and the boys were rambunctious and ready as ever for Christmas! They were excited for our visit, with Ayden's quickest-yet turnaround from hiding to showing off, and Bailey eagerly ready to one-up his little brother.

Naturally, this lead to a lightsaber duel. (As all good confrontations should, in my opinion.) In a surprising turn, Ayden emerged victorious. However, realizing what he'd done, he quickly fled the scene.

Shortly after, the family gathered for some portraits in front of the tree. With Ayden having gone into witness protection, he was replaced by our on-call stand-in, Mr. Fett.

Bailey and Mr. Fett could not be contained for long, and we managed to get a cute moment with Melissa and Glenn in front of the tree. A short while later, they were rejoined by Bailey and Ayden. (No word on the whereabouts of Mr. Fett. If you see any sign of him, please let us know.)

With Christmas only a few weeks away, the holiday joy came early for Jennifer and Jason this year--her name is Rosemary. She was only a few days old, and tiny as could be, but she's got healthy lungs, and she isn't afraid to use them!

We had the pleasure of shooting my cousin Nathan and his fiancée Bethany on a brisk late-November afternoon at York College. It was wonderful finally meeting Bethany, who I'd read about on facebook for so long, and I'm really proud of Nathan for being smart enough to bring such a charming and sweet addition into the family.

These two are such a great pair, and we couldn't be happier for the both of them.

Fall is in the air

Heidelberg Country Club was a the perfect setting for Carissa and Kevin's truly special fall wedding. A brisk bite was in the air, but it was no match for the warmth coming from the happy couple. We had to race the early evening, but the glow of the setting sun was reflected in the glow on Carissa's face.

Inside, the air was a bit warmer, which was perfect for some of the most energetic dancers we've seen! A unique wedding cake, candy buffet, and an amazingly blue-eyed baby made this wedding one-of-a-kind! We had a great time shooting with these two, and wish them much joy, dancing, good friends, and continued happiness in the years to come.

Ducks, a park, and Ayden smiles! A lot!

We couldn't wait to meet up with Ayden and Bailey (and Melissa and Glenn!) again. We had a great time with them the last time and with the trees awash with color, we knew we were in for a treat.

Not only did the boys have a great time at Lititz Spring Park, but Ayden actually warmed up to us right away this time, with no coaching needed from Bailey. I suspect that Bailey's mugging for the lens was a big factor however, as Ayden was quick to copy whatever his big brother did, from running through the trains to climbing backwards up the slide!

This was a wedding I've been looking forward to for a long time. I've known Janell for almost ten years as a coworker. She used to sit right beside me, and during that time, I really got to know how awesome she is, (and about her flair for unintentional double entendre!) so it was really special for me when she asked us to shoot her wedding.

The sun was shining almost as brightly as Janell, and it was an absolutely gorgeous day for her and Dan to begin their new life together. Knowing Janell, it's not even a cliché to say that these two will make beautiful music together. We wish you both all the best!

As I mentioned in the previous post, Matt and I met up with one of my good friends, Chris and his wife and two kids. I've know Chris from the first grade and we've been friends as long as I can remember. Sadly, we don't get to see each other too often because they live in Florida but every time we do get to meet up with them, its like we see each other all the time.

Since their children are getting older they asked us to do a quick shoot for them and of course, we couldn't say no! Madelyn and Aubrey are adorable and were very cooperative.

The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter. Just saying those words give me chills! I'm a HUGE Harry Potter Fan (as is Matt) and there was no way we could not go to WWOHP while we were down in Florida.

The Sunday after my sister-in-law's wedding Matt and I went to Disney's Boardwalk to meet up with a good friend of mine (more on that in another post) and after saying goodbye to them we headed to Disney Marketplace to go to one of Matt's favorite stores... The Lego Store! Harry Potter and Lego??? Yes, we're big geeks!

The next day we got up extra early to get to the Harry Potter Theme park located at Islands of Adventure in Universal Studios. I was so excited to be immersed in everything HP and I wasn't let down! The place is amazing and if you are a fan like we are, I urge you to go as soon as you can.

This past weekend I had the absolute joy of seeing my baby sister Stevi walk down the aisle. I've been excited for this for quite a while, as I was the first person she told after he proposed. (I always get a bit misty about that. It was one of the few "big brother" moments I've gotten with her over the years.)

She was absolutely stunning (she always is) and she positively glows when she's with Lorenzo, my new brother-in-law. Much like when she was reading her vows, I'm going to stop now, or I'll turn into a teary mess.

I love you Stevi, and we both wish you and Lorenzo all the happiness in the world!

Man, we had a great time shooting Randi and Chad's wedding! It's always a good time when you really click with the couple, and we've clicked with, and frequently at (See what I did there?) these two since their engagement session.

Despite a cold and rainy week beforehand, we were blessed with warmth and clear skies all day long. Personally, I think it had something to do with Randi's gorgeous smile, which absolutely lights up the room. (Fortunately, it doesn't present any lighting problems for us!)

From Chad's last-minute race to make sure the reception hall was perfect for his bride to a cake-wielding chase across the dance floor, the day was full of love and excitement. We couldn't be happier for these two, and we very sincerely wish them love and happiness in their new life together.

A cool fall breeze was in the air, which means it's time to meet with Heidi, Greg and Emma! We've got a long history with them, and we're always incredibly excited to spend some time taking their pictures. They were one of our earliest clients, and as the years have gone by, it's been a joy to see their family and their love grow!

This year, we were joined by Heidi's mother, who works part time as our "stand off-camera and get Emma to smile" person. And obviously, she does great work!

We met them at Talleyrand Park in Bellefonte, which is just a short trip down the road from State College, PA. It's a beautiful little park and train station, and Emma was loving all the ducks! All too soon, our time together was over, but we can't wait until our next opportunity to capture more amazing moments with one of our favorite families!

Everywhere I look around!

All apologies to John Paul Young, but his disco days couldn't hold a candle to Heather and Dan's wedding. It was a beautiful September afternoon, surrounded by friends and family. We met up with the full wedding party at the Ephrata Cloister, where we were treated to some amazing afternoon light and apple trees ready for harvest!

Heather and Dan are so cute to watch together. They just radiate warmth and love for one another, and its hard not to smile when you're with them. They've already got such a good marriage, and we hadn't gotten to the ceremony yet! (For those of you scratching your head, Dan and Heather got married last year before he shipped out for Iraq, with the plan to have a "proper" wedding this fall, after he returned home. Welcome back Dan, and thank you for your service!)

From there, it was off to the ceremony and reception at Stoudt's Brewery, which is a great venue. Cold beer, warm service, and awesome decor–what more can you ask for? (Any place that has Alphonse Mucha prints on the wall is aces in my book.) It was wonderful to be treated to a beautiful ceremony, delicious meal, and dancing, dancing, dancing!

Last weekend, we managed to avoid any more disruptive rainfall, and finally got together with Randi and Chad to shoot their engagement pictures at Lititz Springs Park. We had an absolute blast with these two. They have such fun together, and Randi's smile is ridiculously contagious.

Lititz is a wonderful area, and we found a lot of opportunities to capture these two being affectionate, whether just walking down the street with the dogs, or taking a detour for ice cream at Freeze and Frizz. We really enjoyed working with Randi and Chad, and can't wait for their wedding! It sounds like a blast!

The funny thing about maternity shoots is this–they're shortly followed by baby shoots. It never fails!

It seems like we just saw Tiffanie and Nate, and now it's Tiffanie, Nate and Brennan! It was great to meet the little guy, who was just so cute! Nothing made him happier than being held by Mommy and Daddy, so we made sure to give him plenty of snuggle breaks between shots. In return, he was well behaved and cooperative, even when we stripped him down and put him on a deerskin. (Actually, I think this was his goal all along, as he really seemed to like that.)

Tip for baby photography: Give them something soft to lay on, and they'll do pretty much whatever you want.

Brennan, thank you for being such a joy to work with! We hope to see you again soon! Tiffanie and Nate, congratulations again on your new addition!

Hey look, an airplane!

Okay, so there's not really an airplane, but it seemed to be the ongoing theme for Bailey and Ayden, and a rather clever trick that Bailey used to get his little brother to look up for pictures. (Thanks, B!)

We met up with Ayden, Bailey, Glenn and Melissa on a beautiful Monday evening and after enjoying some time with Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 on the XBox360, soon got the whole family outside for some fun in the yard. From bubbles, to swordplay to wrestling in the grass, it was amazing to see the bond between the boys. They definitely bring out the adventurous side in each other!

Taking time for a breather, Melissa was able to get some help in the garden, and then it was time for some aerial maneuvers as the boys took flight at the hands (and feet) of Mom and Dad! As the sun faded on the horizon, so too did our time with this fun foursome. Thank you so much for letting us share the evening with you guys! We'll see you in the fall!

We were very glad to get the chance to finally meet Jacob. We'd seen evidence of him before, but it was truly special getting to finally meet him in person. He's already a huge sports fan, and I had to suppress a laugh (okay, I didn't suppress it) when he started screaming about having to wear Steelers gear. It's okay Jacob... I'd scream too.

It was a joy to see Ashlee and Joel so happy with their new baby boy, and to see how accepted he was by their first kids, Maisie and Cal, who are constantly keeping watch over him.

The afternoon flew by, and all too soon we had to say farewell to our new little friend. I hope we'll see you again soon, Jacob! Welcome to the world!

This past week, we sojourned to Kylene's ancestral home (Northeastern PA) for the wedding of Colleen and Mike. Both the ceremony and reception were at Penn's Peak, making for an easy commute! I can't imagine a more beautiful day for a wedding than what we saw for these two. I can't imagine a much hotter day for a wedding, either.

It was a wonderful ceremony on the veranda, surrounded by friends and family from (I think) 6 states and 4 countries! Clearly these two make friends wherever they go, and it was easy to see why – their love for each other is overflowing, and you can't help but get caught up in it.

Well, unless you're the flower girl.

Between the ceremony and reception, we followed the (huge) wedding party to Beltzville State Park for a chance to unwind and relax a bit before the party kicked into high gear. Fortunately, a park ranger was kind enough to stop by and make sure things didn't get too wild. (No, sir... that's not beer, it's flowers! Flowers I say!)

The rest of the night was spent sharing great food, dancing with the guests, and even some impromptu DJ work by Kenny, a friend of the couple, who really saved the day, and helped make it a night to remember for all. Congratulations, Colleen and Mike, and thank you so much for letting us share in all of it!

O little town of Bethlehem...

...thank you for playing host to the wedding of Susie and Matt! The joy and love between these two was obvious, and apparently strong enough to push away the clouds and rain that plagued much of Pennsylvania last Saturday afternoon! It was a gorgeous day–warm and sunny, very much like the happy couple themselves. Look at that smile on Susie!

After the ceremony, we stopped at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, home of the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, to give Matt and Susie a chance to stretch their legs and strut their stuff. The stadium itself (and Pigapalooza) was closed due to rain concerns, but all that meant to us was more available scenery with no crowds!

Following our turn at-bat, we rejoined the rest of the guests at the Grand Ballroom at Barn House Village in rural Bath, PA. It was a beautiful setting, with a gorgeous courtyard and gazebo (literally) built for perfect wedding photos! Back inside, the incredible DJs from Sonic Sound Productions kept the guests dancing all night long! (Editorial note: I don't normally take note of DJs, but these guys were exceptional. If you're in NE PA, I suggest checking them out.)

It was an enjoyable day with a beautiful couple. Thank you so much Susie and Matt, we wish you all the happiness in the world!

Katie & Bob 6.12.10

Katie and Bob were a special couple for us. We first met Katie when we shot her sister's wedding last year, but we had no idea the unique, fun wedding we'd have in store with these two.

Katie was beautiful, and I really loved the fun red accents she chose to compliment her dress!

This was possibly my favorite church ever, with plenty of cover to allow for enthusiastic photographers, even up front, as well as some wonderful light! Throughout the ceremony, Bob kept stealing glances at Katie, unable to keep from smiling.

The small church had a lot of character, and the grounds were perfectly suited for this adorable pair. Despite the early indications of the scorching hot day to come, they couldn't stop smiling – or kissing!

After the reception, our day wasn't over! We followed Bob and Katie to City Island in Harrisburg for a bit of casual shooting. Fortunately for us, their affection for each other didn't flag in the slightest, even in the blazing heat of the afternoon sun!

As avid baseball fans, Katie and Bob treated us (as well as many of their closest friends and family) to a suite at Metro Bank Park for a game between the Senators and the Bowie Baysox. Bob and Katie were introduced before the game (but after the rain delay), and Bob threw out the ceremonial first pitch to start the evening. Play ball!

Of course, Bob and Katie couldn't return to the suites without taking time to relish the romantic evening views overlooking Harrisburg and the Susquehanna River.

Get a room!

I feel like we've known Breanna and Dave most of our lives... like we know them inside and out. Truth is, we've only met them a few times, the first being at a wedding we did for Breanna's friend in November of 2008. There's just something about them that is comfortable and so happy, it just rubs off on everyone around them.

Matt and I took a drive out to Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove on Saturday for their engagement session. This is where they met and fell in love. As we walked around the grounds, they told us stories about where they first saw each other, where they spent most of their time together and all about their happiest moments there. It was so enjoyable to spend the day with them that we lost track of time and couldn't stop finding places to photograph.

When I found out that Ashlee and Joel were expecting I was ecstatic! I've known Ashlee for at least 3 years now. We started off as friends when we meet on the local Knot/Nest boards. After their wedding they hired Matt and I to do a Trash The Dress session.

Since then, Ashlee and I have gotten together a few times to see the Twilight movies (yes, we're THOSE girls) but other than that we don't get to see each other much. So I was looking forward to going down to Baltimore to do their maternity session.

The day was very hot and muggy but we braved the heat to shoot some outdoor pictures at a local tulip park.

After we finished in the tulip gardens we went back to their house for some more intimate portraits.

Thank you so much for a wonderful day Ashlee & Joel! We can't wait to meet the little one in just a couple of months!

Washington DC 4.11.10

It's good to finally get a chance to show off these shots – we've been busy with searching for our first house, which we finally found!

We headed down to Washington, D.C. to visit my sister and her husband for the Cherry Blossom Festival. Unfortunately, due to a rather unseasonably warm week, by the time we got there, almost every blossom had already turned into a bright spring green!

Undaunted, we still hopped onto the train and were speeding on our way to the nation's capital. Here we have a picture of my "unphotogenic" sister. Always nice to prove her wrong on things like that.

We soon arrived at our station, right under the United States Department of Agriculture building. It was intensely amusing to me to see the special police outside the building with USDA badges on their uniforms, and carrying loaded weapons. I guess they want to enforce proper milk pasteurizing? The USDA is serious business, folks.

After a brief detour via Justine's cartography, we soon made our way towards the Washington Monument and the National World War II Memorial.

I was happy to see that someone had left flowers adorning Pennsylvania's station of the memorial. A beautiful and touching tribute.

Kylene really wanted to see the Korean War Veterans Memorial, and when we got there, I could see why. The statues seemed to be coming back from a long day at the front lines.

We stopped briefly to grab some water near the Washington Monument, and I got a rare opportunity to catch Kylene without the camera in front of her face.

Refreshed and refueled, we continued our tour, when what should we find, but cherry blossoms! This solitary tree stood right near a series of small baseball diamonds, defiantly holding onto these gorgeous pink petals!

Eventually we made it to the Franklin Delano Roosevelt memorial, which is a pretty incredible thing to see. It's got some pretty stunning sculpture there, including this one of FDR himself.

And of course, Fala.

As we left the FDR memorial, we walked along the tidal basin, and were treated to a stunning view of the Washington Monument and Thomas Jefferson Memorial. What a great end to a beautiful day! Special thanks to Justine and Ron for being our tour guides!

We met up with this adorable family last weekend at Long's Park. We walked around the park and just enjoyed snapping shots of them while they walked and played as a family. Bailey was a wonderful sport but little Mr. Ayden was a bit shy. We still got some awesome shots of him though! Keep an eye out for more of this family throughout the rest of the year.

GOBO Workshop 1.30.10

Last Saturday Matt and I had the pleasure of attending the GOBO Workshop lead by Mike Miville of Miville Photography and Olé Hongvanthong of Photolé Photography. The workshop was held at the Cork Factory in Lancaster. It was the first time Matt and I had ever been there and I have to say how incredible the location is! I hope we get to shoot there again soon!

Anyway, the workshop was filled with a lot of different information and we learned quite a bit just in only 6 hours. I would highly recommend this workshop to anyone who wants to learn to take better photographs, whether you like photography as a hobby or are a seasoned shooter, you can always learn something!

When we first met Katie & Ryan we were a little unsure of their plans for a Halloween wedding. We had never done one before so we weren't sure what to expect. Will there be a haunted house feeling to the wedding? Will people be coming dressed in costume? Are there going to be ghosts, ghouls and goblins everywhere? They assured us that they were going to do a normal wedding, with just a few exceptions (like Katie's AMAZING dress).

After a special reveal to each other, we followed the bride and groom, along with some of their family, over to Codorus State Park for some pictures.

I still can't believe that the rose and calla lilly are made of gum paste. That is the most perfect edible rose I have ever seen!

Last Sunday we headed back up to Ski Roundtop for the wedding of Ashley & Kevin. We really enjoyed working with them (and their two doggies) for their engagement portraits last year.

Ashley really wanted an outdoor wedding, so when it was pouring for 3 days straight before her wedding, the prospects didn't look too good. At the last minute, things cleared up and Ashley got her wish! They clouds cleared up and brought a bright blue, sunny sky. Although it was a bit chilly, everything turned out beautifully!

We first met Jack and Isabella's family last year, when we did a family shoot, as well as a baby shoot when the twins were just a few weeks old. We got up early and trekked out to Masonic Homes in Elizabethtown to meet up with the whole family. It was a bright, sunny morning, and we had a great time with everyone.

Bella had a ball. She was smiling, laughing and sticking her tongue out all morning.

Jack was more mellow, but had a great enthusiasm for exploring.

We first worked with Jess & Jason for their engagement pictures last July. We really enjoyed working with them and we were both so excited for their wedding last Saturday.

I know that Jess & Jason wanted to have a very fun, enjoyable ceremony and reception for all of their guests and they sure pulled it off!

During their engagement session, I captured a picture of Jess' engagement ring on a Black Eyed Susan. I spied some of those same flowers at the ceremony site and thought it would be cute to get a similar picture with her wedding band included.

Ben's Senior Portraits 8.29.09

We first met Ben when we were shooting his sister's wedding several weeks ago. We got along well with him, and by the end of the night, Ben wanted us to shoot his senior pictures. We've been wanting to do some senior pics for a while now, and we were happy to work with Ben, who's a great model. Once we got him laughing, the cameras did all the work for us. He's got a great smile, and was a lot of fun to work with.

Ben is a volunteer firefighter, and was brave enough to walk around the alleyways in downtown Lancaster in 85 degree heat wearing his gear. (Of course, he wears it into fires, so I suppose 85 was pretty relaxing, when you get down to it.)

Jessica and Brian's wedding was awesome. We love bridal parties with personality, and this one had it in spades. The guys spontaneously broke into song throughout the day, and it was clear to see how happy everyone was that the big day had finally come. Here, Durelle began an impromptu musical interlude in the lounge, with the rest of the men singing along in impressive harmonies. The day was off to an amazing start.

What a fantastic day it was for a wedding! The skies were blue, the weather was in the mid 80s with a nice cool breeze blowing through and two wonderful people pledging their love!

Ashley & Cory are two really fun people. They both are so full of life and happiness that it is infectious. They chose their ceremony site to be down by the river at Allenberry Playhouse in Boiling Springs. The ceremony was one to remember (including a runaway ring, spilling sands, and a collapsing tree.) All in all it was wonderful.

Cory had a sweet surprise for his bride. They went to Hershey for their first date. At that time, the Hershey Kiss stamp was being introduced and Cory got this button on that day. He wanted to wear it as a special reminder of their first date.

Musser 60th Anniversary 7.3.09

Last Friday we had the pleasure of being at the Musser's 60th anniversary party. Titus and Mildred are the grandparents of one of my closest friends, Vicki. She asked us to come photograph their anniversary party and to take some family portraits of everyone as a gift to them. The Mussers live at Garden Spot Village in New Holland. The grounds are incredibly beautiful and made a great backdrop for the portraits.

We were really looking forward to Krissy and Glenn's wedding this past weekend. They're such a cute couple, and you can't help but smile when you see them together. Not even the steady rain could dampen the spirit of the day!

The ceremony was held at Packer Memorial Church at Lehigh University in Bethlehem. It was such a gorgeous building!

Following the ceremony, we retreated to the stunning campus library, which was like something out of a storybook. It had so much character! Here, Krissy and the girls carefully navigate the myriad staircases along the way.

Krissy and Glenn had one more surprise up their sleeves at the reception–swing dancing through their first dance as man and wife!

Congratulations Krissy and Glenn! We wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Klass 50th Anniversary Party

Sunday we drove down to Maryland to help celebrate Kelcey and Jack's 50th wedding anniversary. What a milestone! Surrounded by family and friends, there was no doubt how special these two are. Congratulations!

We first met Jillian and Steve at her sister's wedding last June and we were excited when they contacted us wanting to get engagement pictures taken. They're a very cute pair, and we had a lot of fun working with them.

We met at Breezyview Overlook at Chickies Rock Park in Marietta. The weather was just warm enough, and the sun kept peeking out throughout the morning, creating some wonderful light through the trees.

From kisses and hugs to hand-holding and whispered jokes, it was very clear to us how in love these two are.

Saturday we had the pleasure of shooting Kristin and Mike's wedding. You may remember we met these two at St. Mary's College last year.

The wedding was at the very lovely Liberty Mountain Resort in Fairfield. We couldn't have asked for a more stunning spring day–it was warm and the sky was clear and blue all day long. A perfect day for nuptials!

They had some wonderfully cute moments in their ceremony. After Kristin's mother gave her away, Mike took the opportunity to chivalrously kiss her hand.

We were lucky enough to have some enthusiastic dancers. This one in particular treated everyone to a rousing version of "I Will Survive." Its always great when you've got a real character in the crowd!

Lancaster Photog Shootout 4.20.09

Last Monday, Matt and I got together for the Lancaster Shootout, where we met photographers from the local area, as well as some from as far as New York and other major metro areas.

The organizers brought in models to provide an opportunity to learn and try new things under the subject of wedding/engagement photography. We learned quite a bit, and it was great to meet so many new people with diverse talents!

Changes are comin'!! Matt and I sat down this month and made some much needed changes. First off, our logo. Matt designed it and we both love it, doesn't it kick butt? ;D

Some other changes that will be coming throughout the rest of the year are some new packages offering amazing albums, proofs and more! A new website and redesigned blog will also be on its way, so stay tuned!

In the mean time, leave us some comments about the new logo and let us know if you love it or hate it (although, if you hate it, too bad... its here to stay. ;D)

Last weekend Matt and I went and visited two of our good friends, Jacki & Tony. They are pregnant with their first child and due in just a few short weeks. We've known them since before they got married, and we're really excited for baby Anna to arrive!

Friday we had the pleasure of photographing Breann & Dan's wedding. Matt and I were very excited because their ceremony and reception was being held at Riverdale Manor, the same place we had our wedding a year and a half ago.

Breann's red theme really set the holiday feel for the whole wedding.

Today was Kristen and Don's wedding. It was so beautiful that even the sky cried. (Okay, so maybe it was just rain, but the wedding was gorgeous all the same.) The wedding was at Rooke Chapel on the campus of Bucknell University, which you'll see further down.

Don was a hilarious wellspring of emotions from the time we arrived right up until the start of the ceremony. Fortunately, he had his support team of groomsmen to keep him (relatively) stable.

All that rain served us well, providing the couple with an amazing rainbow just outside the reception venue.

What a beautiful day! We couldn't have asked for a lovelier afternoon so late in the year! We've been looking forward to Jen and Glenndon's wedding for a while now, and it was a perfect day, from start to finish!

I've been looking forward to Saturday's wedding for a while. It was finally Jen & Chris's day. After working with them for their engagement pictures back in June, I knew we'd have a great time at their wedding. Then, a few weeks ago, Matt and I met up with Jen at their ceremony and reception location, Lancaster County Winery. I've never been there before so I was excited to see that the grounds were beautiful and offered a lot of great photo locations. Thats why I was so sad to see it pouring rain on Saturday afternoon. I was very happy to see that the rain didn't dampen Jen's spirits at all!

Instead of having the ceremony outside, they had it in the reception hall. It was a little cramped and a tad bit hot, but still beautiful!

Jen and her bridesmaids carved so many pumpkins that aided in the fall decorations. This one was placed right in front of their chairs at the head table.

Jen & Chris were very nice when feeding each other their cake. A few guests kept chanting "smash it, smash it, smash it" so after they each had their piece of cake, Chris turned around and shoved some cake into one of the guests doing the chanting. Then he proceded to try and get some cake onto Jen.

We did Ashley and Kevin's engagement pictures last Saturday at John Rudy Park in York. They adore their two Yellow Labs Casey and Dylan so they wanted to include them in the shoot. They were so well-behaved compared to the other dogs there!

It ended up being an amazing day weather wise for October. The temperature was in the upper 70s and some of the trees were just starting to change color, which made for some beautiful backdrops.

What an emotional day!! I swear, I cried more today than I did at my own wedding! Karen is one of my best friends and today she married Eric. I have been waiting for this day since they first announced their engagement a year ago but I never thought I would be THIS emotional. I cried like a baby during the entire ceremony and almost lost it about 6 times during the reception!

All in all, it was an amazing day. Now, technically I wasn't the actual photographer for her wedding (the real photographer was the amazing Mike Miville from Miville Photography. Keep an eye on his blog for some teaser pictures) but I was able to capture some great images of the day.

On Sunday we drove down to Delaware for portraits of one year old Madison. We met up with her and her family in Silver Lake Park. Madison was full of smiles the whole time. Her blue eyes are breathtaking. I have a feeling she's going to break some hearts some day.

Rain, Rain go away!!! Thats what I was wishing for Saturday's wedding. Sadly, the rain didn't listen to me. We traveled down to Gettysburg for Jessie and Tim's wedding. The plan was to have the ceremony on the deck at The Links at Gettysburg but the rain decided to put a damper on those plans. The ceremony was moved indoors and was still beautiful! It poured off and on but thankfully allowed us to get some portraits out by the foot bridge.

After the morning ceremony and early afternoon reception was over we headed over to the Battlefields in Gettysburg to get some really fun portraits.

I loved the little blue accents that Jessie had everywere! She had it in her engagement ring, her bracelet, necklace, flowers, Bridesmaid's dresses, even on her fingernails!

Laura & Jon 9.13.08

What can I say about Laura and Jon? Lets see, they're so much fun, they're so much in love and they're so cute! We just loved working with these two and we're kinda sad that its over. Both Matt and I have been looking forward to their wedding day since we shot their engagement pictures last November.

The ceremony and reception was held at Pheasant Run Bed & Breakfast in Lancaster. It was our first time shooting there and the owners, Bob & Vivian were wonderful to work with!

I usually try and put the pictures in order that they were taken but I had to break the rule just once. This is by far, my all-time favorite picture. I think its pretty easy to tell how happy they are together.

Ok, now for the "normal" order of the pictures.

Here is some of Laura's detail work. On the left is her program, the center is a jar of her family's raspberry jam and on the right is a hand-made recipe book with lots of wonderful, mouth-watering recipes.

Laura lined the rock wall on the patio with lots and lots of candles. They looked awesome all lit up at night. Here, Matt used the lit candle to make the heart. The entire night was filled with love!

We traveled out to Altoona for Danielle & Corey's wedding on Saturday. We met them through Heidi & Greg (who did their Trash The Dress Session with us last September). It was the first wedding that we've done without meeting the Bride & Groom before the big day. Danielle and Corey were incredibly understanding and easy going. We could not have asked for better clients!

April & Sam's wedding was so much fun! The day started with a ceremony at Saint Theresa's Parish in New Cumberland. After the ceremony and family portraits we headed up to Ski Round Top for a fun-filled, dance-crazy evening!
